Is this a crazy idea?

I find myself facing a strange dilemma. I finished my next book early. That's a good thing, but it's also driving me crazy. Late last year I mapped out my 2025 release schedule and my upcoming book was scheduled for mid-May. That was before I hit early March and had the thing written, edited, and about 94% ready for full publication. The dilemma is if I should push the release up by a month or not. I'd love to release in mid-April, but my next release is Christmas themed, which means it can't come out until November. So by moving up my release on this book, I create a 7 month long release drought for myself. What does my crazy mind come up with to solve this? Write a novella and release that somewhere in that 7 months! It's not a terrible idea, but it would definitely push my 2026 plans back a bit. And yes, these are the kinds of crazy things that you deal with as an indie author! Managing your release schedule is an important part of the gig, especially when you're trying to build a fanbase and find an audience.

I'm honestly not sure what I'm going to do yet, but I just wanted to share about the process because I thought some of you might find it interesting. As tough as this side of the business can be, I'm happy to report that the writing side has been an insane amount of fun. I'm very excited for all of you to get to experience the next book as I think it has some of my best work yet in it! Stay tuned for more info on all of that, as the promotion will be ramping up before you know it!
